The
CITROËN C2, unveiled in Frankfurt and due for launch
in early 2006 (according to market), will
be fitted with the Stop & Start system
that was introduced on the CITROËN C3 in December
2004. The CITROËN C2 Stop & Start embodies Citroën’s
commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.
Offered with the
1.4i 16V 90 bhp version, these models contribute
to quality of city life by reducing fuel consumption
and CO2 emissions by around 10% over an urban
cycle. What is more, noise emissions are eliminated
when the vehicles come to a halt.
The
CITROËN C2 Stop & Start combines two advanced
technologies: the SensoDrive automated
gearbox and an electronically controlled
reversible alternator. With the Stop
& Start system, the engine cuts
out just before the vehicle comes
to a standstill at a traffic light
or in a traffic jams, for example.
It is reactivated instantly and automatically
as soon as the driver releases the
brake pedal to move forward again.
